Purpose Statement

Kiokee Baptist Church
Reflecting Jesus Christ
In our community and the world by …
Honoring God
Encouraging Believers
Serving Others and
Sharing the Good News!

1. WE PURPOSE TO HONOR GOD

To Honor God = expressing love, devotion and worship to God.

“Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” (Matthew 4:10)

“…True worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshippers. God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)

2. WE PURPOSE TO ENCOURAGE BELIEVERS

Discipleship = the process by which believers mature into the likeness of Christ.

“Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity…” (Hebrews 6:1)

“(God has given)…some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of ministry, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all…become mature…like Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-13)

3. WE PURPOSE TO SERVE OTHERS

Ministry = meeting needs with the love of Christ

“By this shall all men know that you are My disciples – that you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)

“Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities…and there are different kinds of service to God (ministry)…All of you together form the one Body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it.”
(1 Corinthians 12:4-5,27)

4. WE PURPOSE TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS

Evangelism = communicating the Good News that salvation is
found in Jesus Christ alone!

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
